January Reading Wrap Up

January got off to a rocky start for me as far as my reading was concerned. I started several books and couldn't commit to any one book for very long, even though they were are decent books. I attributed it to post holiday blahs.  Fortunately things improved by month's end and overall managed to finish (10) books, but this has been my worst month for reading in years:(

Here's what I finished in January -
  1. Beatrix Potter's Gardening Life; Marta McDowell - 5/5 (Library)
  2. Sycamore Row; John Grisham - 4/5 (library - audio)
  3. The Hen Who Dreamed She Could Fly; Sun Mi-Hwang - 5/5 (eGalley)
  4. Life After Life; Jill McCorkle - 4/5 (eGalley/ARC)
  5. Jacob's Eye Patch; Beth Kobliner Shaw - 3.5/5 (library)
  6. Five Days at Memorial; Sheri Fink - 4.5/5 (NFic)(arc/audio)
  7. The Good Luck of Right Now; Matthew Quick - 4,5/5 (arc - eGalley)
  8. The Bird Skinner; Alice Greenway - 3.5/5 (arc - eGalley)
  9. The Dalia Lama's Cat and the Art of Purring; D. Michie - 4.5/5 (arc-eGalley)
  10. Gemini; Carol Cassella - 4.5/5 (arc/eGalley)

  2. January has been a month of cold and snow so severe I could not play outside ( snowshoe). It made me a little crazy. Your book list is going to help me choose my February books! Thanks! Me Before You is a good read. Very English.

  6. I was the opposite, actually. I started off well and then fizzled half way through. I have so many half finished books kicking around and it is just the first month of the year.

  8. I've kind of hit that point, too, where I am finding it hard to commit to a book. I have started several and then abandoned them and started something new. I'm hoping February is better.

  9. Glad the month finished strong! I had a great January (need to get my post composed) due to the bitter cold. We are reading a couple of the same books in February.

  10. Still, 10 is good. Some people don't even read 10 in a year.

    Happy February reading!

  11. I think January has been a terrific reading month for you, Diane. Ten books a month is a lot to me. You've really whetted my interest in The Hen Who Dreamed She Could Fly. It sounds like it would be a favorite of mine as well.

  14. Wonderful lists. I'm amazed how many books you read in a month. And glad too that you gave the Grisham book a good rating. I was listening to The Litigators and had to stop after a few chapters. I might try this one.
